![]() What does it mean to be a great leader? A leader is someone who is not afraid to move forward with what they’re passionate about. They see a need and they do something about it. Being a great leader means that you stop trying to please everyone -- if you’re doing that you’re not going to get anywhere. Leaders follow their instincts. Do you feel you're a leader? Why or why not? I feel I am becoming a leader. I just recently discovered my passion and have learned to stop working to please others. I’m on the road, but I won’t say I’ve arrived. In the past I’ve struggled to be this idea of a “good therapist” and to do things the way others do things. I finally realized that it wasn’t me. Once I gave myself permission to be the therapist that I want to be, the doors opened up. Tell a story of a time you took the lead -- what was your motivation? I’m taking the lead right now in teaching domestic abuse. What motivated me was two of my clients. Their stories broke my heart, so I decided it was time to make more people aware of this issue. My mission is to bring awareness to domestic abuse and what it really looks like. No abuser should be able to hide behind the silence. When people know what to look for they can stop it.
