The great Mile High City is listed as #5 among the healthiest cities in the United States, according to
Forbes Magazine. Every area in Denver has a host of gyms, golf courses, parks, and recreational areas, and of course, the beautiful Rocky Mountains set the scene, serving as a background and a playground.

With so many ways to stay fit, there is always a new and innovative trend in the fitness world. Whether you are a health nut or someone seeking a customized routine, feeling comfortable and enjoying your workout are most important, but not every space offers that experience. However, our very own Women of Denver member, Sheryl Langley, loved the fitness plan at FIT36 so much, she decided to open a new location after a year of high-intensity interval training.

Over a year, Langley dropped three sizes, and she says that it is all thanks to the “work harder and smarter” mantra that rings throughout the FIT36 locations. In just 36 minutes, the goal is to provide an intense but fun workout regimen perfect for any Mile Higher ready to see results and work hard. The 53-year-old entrepreneur and guru opened her FIT36 studio with hopes of inspiring others to “train to live” because she knows how great the muscle memory program works.

Inspired by this transformation, we asked Langley how it started. This woman of Denver told us, “The moment I decided to stop going the safe route and follow my passions to create the life I had only dreamed of.  My year of transformation followed a divorce and there was a whole new life I was ready to create.” Langley recalls reading books that helped her overcome fear and self doubt. She also attended workshops on how to discover her calling and truest life passions. Langley went on to say, “I also joined a mentorship program to get the support and internal work I would need in making this big change in my life and believing in myself. I created a plan and knew I was willing to do whatever it took. Support was crucial, both with my circle of friends and my business mentors. In a short year, my experiences were beyond any challenges I had overcome in my entire life, and this was the transformation that has led me to where I am today, a stronger and more confident woman who is driven to live her passionate life.”

For every powerful transformation, there is a moment that is life altering and Langley recalled that moment happening at a workshop in Chicago. At this juncture in her life, she was considering her next move after being unhappy with her job at the time.  “We all talked about what our greatest passions were and put them in the order of most important and I realized during that time that I was spending very little time in what really mattered to me,” Langley says.  In that moment she asked the facilitators about mentorship and ironically they had just started a program designed for people like Langley who were looking to redefine their life. According to this brave woman, “That was the start of my journey.”

Social sciences have proven that giving a woman resources provides stronger benefit to the world. The resilience and strength that women exude is quite inspiring. That applies to Sheryl Langley. She too believes that as she shared with us, “Women have a sense of compassion and depth of being in touch with their inner self that allows us to connect on levels I feel some men struggle with (okay, most men).  Women find and build their tribe and the level of support and love we give each other and the trials and tribulations we are willing to share with each other is a very special thing.” Above all things, we loved when the Mile Higher said, “We dream big and love to pursue those dreams. We are soft yet strong.  Yes, being a woman is incredible!”

The Women of Denver was created to help achieve that very goal. For Langley, finding other women who shared her yearning to learn from each other has been amazing.  “This group supports each and every member in every way you can imagine, personally and in business matters as well.  To be able to share my story and experience with other members and inspire them has been something that truly transformed my life.  Having a powerful support network has been a major ingredient for my personal transformation and WOD has been a part of that.  The relationships you build at WOD can truly transform your life,” the Women of Denver member exclaims.

Becoming more passionate about inspiring others on a deeper level, you can expect to see Sheryl Langley doing more speaking and one on one life transformation coaching and mentoring.  Langley believes that transformation challenges will be an integral part of her fitness business while integrating a full on mind and body transformation program that can be duplicated and used to help women and men who are ready to do the work on themselves both inside and out.  She says, “It's going to be about focusing on the entire being and for me about slowing the aging process and helping others to focus on happiness that starts from within.  From self care and self love.” We are excited for Sheryl Langley’s continuous transformations as she continues to make the world a more passionate place.

How to Increase your C.O.R.E confidence

Written By: Jessica Schuurman - https://www.facebook.com/freecitymumlifestyle

I'm sure everyone of us can relate to the anxiety and depression caused by the stress of everyday life. Yearning to acquire the traits of a confident person, and truly begin to soar in the success of our life and business.

Confidence is accepting who you are on the inside and out and truly believing in yourself and your worth.

Being an ambitious person can be difficult in being consistent with your confidence. Having distractions or happenings that create a change from most confident to having the anxiety or beginning of depression on your shoulders, whispering in your ear ‘You’ll never make it; what you're doing isn't going to impact anyone because it's not needed.’

Your thoughts are wrong, your anxiety is not needed and that depression can keep walking. You are on point with what you are about to be achieving and because of your hard work you will definitely be helping others achieve their dreams, through your story.

Obtaining that confidence will allow other professionals to respect and honor you in the industry that you are actively part of.
MYTH: Confidence is something you’re born with.
TRUTH: Confidence is something we all have to work on.

Maybe you’ve heard of the Imposter Syndrome.
This is a concept of high achievers who are marked by an inability to internalize their accomplishments and a persistent fear of being exposed as a fraud (taken from Wikipedia.org). Some of you may never of even heard of this concept before, but have felt this way on multiple occasions.

So here's the real question, how do you get out of this vicious cycle of anxiety and fear of failure etc?

Dr. Melissa Gressner has come up with the first steps needed to truly find your confidence with a simple acronym for C.O.R.E.

C- Creating a positive and powerful mantra
O- Orienting to the internal vs. The external
R- Reconnecting to your mind, body and soul
E- Excelling with practice and application

Together these four steps become a journey in themselves, to truly find and accept yourself on the inside and out. Following the C.O.R.E outline is the beginning of a new you!

MYTH: Ambitious people are always confident.
TRUTH: Ambitious people actually struggle with confidence because
of the magnitude of their goals and dreams, causing them anxiety and stress

Dr. Melissa Gressner is a psychologist impacting her clients one step at a time. With her new and innovating ways of having sessions with clients. Her ‘Walk and Talks’ are a great way to connect on a intimate level. “Being outside can really help with depression and anxiety.  Helping my client to truly be more comfortable walking by my side, rather than your traditional sitting across from each other in an office setting,” Gressner explained.

In order to truly embrace your confidence by accepting who you are, there will be many trials and tribulations that arise. There is no need to be intimidated by change. It can be as simple as flicking a switch. It can really start anywhere, especially today.

8 Steps to OWN Your Worth in Business

  1. Find your exit strategy: What do I mean by finding your exit strategy? This is where you find your worth. Who do you want to become in making that decision? Being true to yourself and fighting to be the best version of you, no matter what. You then, are exiting out of the old and into the new.
  2. Learn the power of listening: Take time to listen. There are many other people in the position you want to be in. They will have more experiences and can share them with you. Learn from their mistakes, so that you can teach others by yours. Mastering the art of listening means that you will become the excellence in your niche that you strive to be.
  3. Brand Yourself: In finding a plausible business to help others, think about your experiences and how you can utilize them in sharing and teaching with your audience. It is important to understand your message, so that you stay congruent. Then being able to fully release your story, this helps so that you become relatable in your expertise. ‘I have been here and have made these mistakes. Now look at where I am.’ By excelling in your story, others will begin to respect you and aspire to be in your position. Knowing your Audience is key right from the beginning. Who is your audience? Think of them as just one person. Does she have a family? Is she an entrepreneur? In branding yourself and your business you will then begin to flourish in your niche.
  4. OWN your Voice: You have an abundance of skills and gifts to bring to the table. First understanding what they are, will then allow you to share and impact your business in the utmost positive way. If you are working in a team environment, embracing your voice and speaking out your opinions will help others to brainstorm ideas and further pursue the task at hand.
  5. We all deserve, move ‘I’ to ‘We’: There is always a wage or standard that we all believe we deserve. Using your experiences is what will win that client or employer over: What have you worked on and how has it impacted your business? How have you added value to others? Bring examples and prove your worth. Clients and employers do not care how hard you work, they care about how you are able to improve their business or life. Instead of focusing on ‘How much ‘I’ deserve’ use ‘How much ‘We’ deserve.’ The client or employer isn’t concerned about you, they are worried about themselves and how you are able to help them.
  6. Use your resources: It is always good to DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Know the range in which your niche is valued at. Utilize LinkedIn and message hiring personnel or other entrepreneurs in your line of work. Search up on hiring websites like, monster.com. Then bring your employer or client all of the amazing proof you have collected in your ‘Praise Folder.’ Surely they will be impressed and open to discussing that raise.
  7. Be on the same page as your client or employer: Staying on the same page and being consistent with your meetings and tasks at hand is vital. They need to know what you are thinking and how you can help improve. You also need to be aware of their standards and what they expect of you.
  8. Be more social: Utilizing social media by going live and sharing tips with others, will help your audience begin to fully trust you. Keeping active on social media is key to success. As you go through the steps you will learn with trial and error. Remember Listen and learn from others who have made mistakes.

‘You deserve to be seen, heard and known’ – Krystal Covington

Knowing your worth and taking these 8 steps to creating a business that you are proud of, is the first step in to the rest of your life. Change can be scary but by stepping out of your comfort zone and OWNING your voice. You are destined to be great and successful at whatever you choose to become. Believe in yourself and watch your life transform.

Learning to Tap into your intuition with tracy revell

Intuition. We all have it but what does it really mean and why don’t we listen to it more often?

With us in this clip from Inside the Women of Denver is Tracy Revell with Embodied Confidence to show us how to flex our confidence muscles and tap into our intuition. Tracy defines ‘intuition’ as simply “knowing what you know”. Think about it. Your intuition gathers information from somewhere - why is it so often ignored?

Despite our overpowering cultural desire to override our intuition and listen to our body (cue burnout) we still feel it.  As Tracy explains, women are actually hardwired to ‘know what we know’ and connect with ourselves.

So ladies, pull those shoulders back, connect with yourself, and get listening.

Ingredient Detective Uncovers The p.e.g with Ann Kaemingk

Ever heard of a PEGs? Well, get ready to start looking more closely at the ingredients in your favorite skin care and makeup products.

Ingredient detective Ann Kaemingk is back on Inside the Women of Denver to tell us what PEGs are and why we should care. She explains that even many natural products which we think are good for our skin could actually be contaminated with carcinogens and other harmful ingredients. Eeek!

Even though PEGs on their own aren’t necessarily bad, the process they go through contaminates them. The scary thing though is that the reason they are in your ingredients in the first place is to enhance the penetration of other ingredients in the product. In theory it makes sense, right? But, if the PEGs themselves are contaminated and they’re in the presence of other harmful ingredients these toxins are penetrating your largest organ even deeper.

What can you do to begin the process of self healing?

Have you ever wondered why you’re the only one in the room smiling? Or why the words coming out of your mouth deserve more than the reaction you receive? Well, it might be because you are subconsciously giving off mixed messages and damaging your credibility in the eyes of others. Yikes.

In this clip from Inside the Women of Denver we discuss some of the ways in which women can improve clarity in communication by becoming more aware of how we come across. Alicia Cuello, CEO of Underlying Communications, explains how many women are naturally demonstrative communicators and when body language doesn’t match the message we often undermine our own credibility. Think apologizing for a strong opinion or smile when being assertive.

Some tips from Alicia Cuello:

  • Walk into a room with presence and with confidence in what you are there to accomplish
  • Learn to pay attention to what you are doing with your face and mannerisms
  • Smile when appropriate and with intention
  • When you sit at the boardroom table, make sure your chair is the same height or higher
