What does it mean to be a great leader?
A great leader is one that encourages other people. Someone who listens and can encourage others to be their best. A leader gives tools to others and sets an example.
Do you feel you’re a leader? Why or why not?
I think I am a leader. I am a diplomat, so in a sense it comes off like I’m being really nice. I love to lead hikes and walks and I’ve done fundraisers in the past.
I love to lead in areas I’m passionate about. I also love helping others find what they are passionate about because that’s when they find their joy.
Tell us a story of a time you took the lead.
I used to be the fundraiser for a non-profit board. It was a great experience because we were working with young people. We used outdoor activities to motivate young inner city children to lead.
When you give positive experiences to young people, it encourages them to be their best. It was so fun to do outdoor leadership training with children and know I was making a difference in their lives.
What’s one quality of a leader from your past that you really respect?
There was a leader that I knew several years ago that I worked on several projects with. She was so compassionate and always helped me get my projects done. She’s not a super famous person, but to me she was a great leader.
