Have you ever felt like you shared a little too much information about yourself to someone who might not quite "get you" yet? I did that recently. I told a story about my early life that for one person seemed a little bit out of the ordinary and caused some judgement on their end.
I made the decision to be unreasonably honest in the way I talk about myself and my experience in the world, and at times that makes others feel uncomfortable. We're not accustomed to hearing authentic stories from people on the first meeting, and many times we don't hear those stories until years into knowing a person.
I believe in living for honestly and accepting the vulnerability that comes along with that. I may not tell people every detail about how I'm feeling or what I'm going through, but I will share a relevant story that delves a bit deeper than the shallow conversations we're so accustomed to.
Will you dare to join me?
In this blog I mentioned Brene Brown and her book "Daring Greatly." You can also explore her philosophy in her TED Talk video at: https://youtu.be/iCvmsMzlF7o
